An internationally recognized leader, Raul Reis was named dean of UNC Hussman in July 2022 after 25 years of experience in academia and a track record for creating nationally ranked programs that prepare students for the fast-paced world of digital media. Reis worked for many years as a newspaper, television and magazine reporter and editor for Brazilian and U.S. news organizations.
At UNC, Reis is emphasizing community, diversity, equity and inclusion and building on the school’s traditional strengths of teaching, research and public service with a commitment to student success and thought leadership in media and journalism.

The UNC Hussman Staff Leadership Council (SLC) is a committee of staff leaders that represent the school’s administrative departments and elevate staff perspectives for awareness and consideration by the Dean and school leadership. Volunteer Leaders
The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media has three volunteer-driven boards — the Foundation Board, Board of Advisers and Alumni Board — that advise the school’s leadership.
